| I started contesting in 1975 at the
age of 15 years old. My efforts started with the ARRL Field Day
contest and California QSO Party. Then by 1977, I was operating the ARRL
DX SSB and CW, CQWW DX and CW and CQWW WPX SSB/CW contests. Over the
years, I have participated in numerous contest activities (i.e. 10 meter
and 160 meter contest, etc.), but I mostly enjoy the ARRL DX CW and CQWW DX CW
contests. Contest Related Information

Contest Sleep Plan and Health Information
If you have not read
Randy Thompson's (K5ZD) article on
A Sleep Strategy for DX Contesting, National Contest Journal, I
strongly recommend you read and apply this valuable information. It's a
must for the dedicated contester.
Contesting DX-Peditions
There are many ways to find a special DX location to operate your
contest. I found the best way to do it by meeting people on the air and
discussing a clear plan. It is also helpful to get foreign licensing
information and housing information from the following websites:
Operating Contests
I have had the opportunity to operate from numerous
large, medium and small contest stations such as
W3LPL, W3GNQ and
WX3B and have enjoyed lots of contests
while on DX-peditions. Here are some fellow contesters I've met:
