The details about this trip are as follows:
-
Administer US FCC
Amateur Radio
License Examinations for Students - Our Team
will administer the US FCC Amateur Radio Technician exam
on Saturday (Dec.
10, 2011 around
9:00 AM to 1:00
PM) and
Monday (Dec. 12
at 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM) for General/Extra and re-exams if
needed. The goal will be for the students to be issued a US FCC
Amateur Radio License that can be submitted to
The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia
- Ministry of Communication Information Technology with
application and proof of residency to obtain their own ET issued
license. A limiting factor is the student must submit a HF Radio
model and serial number plus antenna. Since the students don't
have these, these will need to be follow-on personal ham radio
operator to student, one on one, donation projects.
David Collingham (K3LP) - VE Team Liaison
Paul Ewing (N6PSE)
Will Beyer, Jr. (N2WB)
- Volunteer Examiners (VEs) are licensed radio
amateurs holding a General Class license or higher who offer
their time to administer the FCC licensing tests and
approved in advance.
- Information on obtaining an ET licenses is as follows:
2. Creation of "Addis Ababa
Institute of Technology" Technology Incubation Program (TIP)" -
David Collingham (K3LP), President and CEO,
International Quality
Registrars Corporation was requested by the
Addis Ababa Institute of Technology to make a non-profit
presentation to assist in setting up a Technology Incubation Program
(TIP). The presentation was presented to the University's executives
and students on Tuesday,
Dec. 12, 2011 - 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM with follow-up discussion
between 3:00 PM to 4:00
PM.
Future "Addis Ababa Institute
of Technology - Technology Incubation Program (TIP)"
To accelerate the successful establishment and development of
entrepreneurial companies by providing:
- State-of-the-art wet labs, dry labs and offices
- Business development and research services
- Access to University resources and educational facilities
- Goal: Technology
Incubation Program (TIP) will offer services usually
unattainable by start-ups:
- A world-class university setting
- Access to the
University library and computer network
- Wet labs, offices, instrumentation and specialized equipment
- Customized business development support and mentoring
- Conference and meeting rooms
- Access to faculty experts, student employees and interns
3. ET3AA DX-Pedition Team
Operating from Club Station
- David Collingham (K3LP),
Igor Pyzh (UY5LW), Yaroslav "Yarik" Oleynik (UW7LL), Darko Rusman
(J28AA, E70A),
Al
Hernandez (K3VN), Paul Ewing
(N6PSE) and Will Beyer, Jr. (N2WB) operated from the ET3AA Club Station.
In addition,
Al
Hernandez (K3VN), Paul Ewing
(N6PSE) and Will Beyer, Jr. (N2WB)
also operated during
day/early morning hours on 10-40 meters bands using SSB with the
ET3SID call (from Sid's QTH).
We had a goal to operate 160 meters and 80 meters, but the S+20 noise
level in the city made this almost impossible. A 127' Slopper/Inv. L
Wire Antenna was installed for 160 meters.
