| SPECIAL THANKS I want to extend a special thanks to Mort
Bardfield, W1UQ (PJ7UQ and FS5UQ) for his hospitality and allowing our
team
the opportunity to operate from his Dutch villa in downtown Philipsburg
(PJ7UQ) and French (FS5UQ) hill top property on Pic Paradis.
I want to
also thank Joe Arcure, Jr. (W3HNK), for his FS5UQ QSL Manager support.
He has performed the FS5UQ QSL Manager duties for numerous years. Joe is
by far one of the best QSL Managers and has done an excellent job get
QSL cards out even when we have delayed his normal process.

FS5UQ STATION LOCATION
The FS5UQ station on Pic Paradis is about 8 miles north-east from the
capital city of Marigot on the French side of the island looking down at
Orient Bay on the east coast. Pic Paradis, at 1,400 feet elevation, is
the highest point on the whole island. This is the smallest island in
the world ever to have been partitioned between two different nations,
St. Martin/St. Maarten has been shared by the French and the Dutch in a
spirit of neighborly cooperation and mutual friendship for almost 350
years. St. Martin/St. Maarten is sunny and warm year-round, averaging 82
degrees Fahrenheit in summer and just 2 degrees cooler in winter. The
island is buffeted by cooling trade winds that keep things temperate all
year long. Average annual rainfall comes to about 45 inches, most of
which occurs around late summer and early fall.
