Station Equipment Used:
Station 1 - 10 Meters and 160 Meters; Radio K3 HF
Rig, slopping Delta Loop Antenna for 160 Meters at about 80' at the top, and 3 Element Mono-band
10 Meter beam at 20' handing by a rope in the tree, and ACOM 2000 AMP
Station 2 - 40 Meters; Radio FT-1000MP, LogPeriodic
Beam Antenna, single element for 40 Meters at 60', and ACOM 1010 AMP
Station 3 - 20 Meters; Radio IC-746 PRO, 3 Element
SteppIR Beam Antenna at 40' for 20 Meters, 1 KW Solid State Amplifier
AMP stopped working the first day of the contest, so we ran the remaining
contest using the 80 Meters Station ACOM 1010 Amp during the day and no
amp during the evening.
Station 4 - 15 Meters; Radio FT-1000MP, 3 Element
Mono-band 15 Meter Beam at 20' fixed at center of NA without rotator, 800w Solid State Amplifier AMP stopped
working the first day of the contest, so ran remaining contest sharing
the 40 Meter station ACOM 1010 AMP during day and no amp during evening
Station 5 - 80 Meters; Radio K3, 2 Element
Phase Vertical Antenna and ACOM 1010 AMP
Comments and Lessons Learned:
Our team was able to set a new world record outside the United
States with a basic antenna
installation and losing two solid state amplifiers the first day of the
contest. It pays to have great CW Operators. The ACOM amplifiers worked
perfectly! - Lesson learned: Don't buy and use solid-state amplifiers
for dx-pedition contests even though they are cheaper for shipping and
easier to get in and out of a country.
